Mamoru’s Parents

Original character design for Mamoru’s parents, created specifically for my doujinshi “Chibiusa’s Timeout: A History of My Parents”

Chiba, Yugure – Mamoru’s father (Darien’s dad) – I decided to make him an Imperial Japanese Navy Medic for this. He’s a highly decorated officer. He loves sports cars, is often traveling abroad with his career – which was a trait passed on to his son, and of course, he loves his family – Ayame and Mamoru. Yugure means Twilight, or Dusk – which strangely foreshadows the fact that King Endymion is known as the Twilight King of Crystal Tokyo. Yugure has reddish colored eyes, which are eventually passed down to his granddaughter, Princess Lady Serenity Tsukino Usagi – aka Chibiusa.

Chiba, Ayame – Mamoru’s mother (Darien’s mom) – Ayame is a botanist and is named after the flower, Iris (Ayame is Japanese for Iris). Although Naoko drew a small sample of Mamoru’s mother to look similar to his father sporting the same hairstyle, I decided to tweak her look from the comic a bit and create a more imaginative hairstyle for her. Mamoru has his mother’s color hair and eyes**.

** NOTE: Although Mamoru is Prince Endymion reborn from the Crystal Millennium Age, I figured that the modern parents that each of the reborn Sailor Senshi and others born to were chosen by the Silver Crystal on the basis of their looks. -->With the exception of Usagi – who happens to look nothing like her mom or dad.

What a unique idea! I've seen a fair few takes on Princess Serenity's father, but I've never seen anyone consider what Mamoru's parents might have been like! I like the reddish eyes being passed to Chibiusas

Could you maybe point me to the picture that Naoko drew of Mamoru's parents? I have never seen it and I should really add it to my collection.
