Sarah's Grand Re-Entry: Anime Poster 1


There will be another poster later, but for now I wanted to work on the first one. This one is more recognizable for having Jake T. Forbes' "Return to Labyrinth" as the inspiration behind my "Sarah's Grand Re-Entry" graphic novel (whose 200+ pages have been placed into temporary storage on DA for now).

If I return to SGRE, then it will be in this ANIME style from here on in, and NOT in the original 'realistic' style that I had been creating it. Anime, although not my favorite art form, is NOT hideous IMO -- In fact, if done correctly, Anime/Manga can be downright gorgeous and elegant!

For those who are new, or unaware: SGRE was a story based on ONLY the first two volumes of Jake T. Forbes' "Return to Labyrinth" - it was initially created to entertain a group of children on a school bus while his third volume was being created.
Upon request from several devWatchers, and also to help my student career along within college, I continued the story in color and digitally for the next 2 1/2 years - breaking away from Forbes' original story and creating Sarah's Grand Re-Entry.

I have made a few small tweaks to Chirs Lie's character designs - such as drawing Drumlin far cuter, which -in turn- makes her far less easier to kill off - but the other characters should be easy to match up to the original manga released from TokyoPop.

Linework and base color designed in Adobe Illustrator CS5, and secondary color w/FX were embellished in Adobe Photoshop CS5. Overall, the whole work took me about 25+ cumulative hours to complete.
